    • A very important option to help prolong the life of your fur

Storage

Storage is very important to maintain the longevity and beauty of your fur. Home storage, using air conditioning or a cedar closet, will not protect your fur from drying out or from moths. Our fur storage is specifically designed to give long life to your fur. Our temperature, humidity and lights are automatically controlled. Special air flow is provided so that the fur skin may “breathe” properly. When the fur is not stored, the hair itself may appear fine, but the natural oils of the skin are drying out. If skins are allowed to dry out, rips and tears will begin to appear, and these cannot be adequately repaired nor can the oils be replaced.

Conditioning

Fur Conditioning

Furs should be conditioned annually. Normally, they do not look soiled, but they need conditioning in order to keep them soft and fresh. Conditioning is a dry process. It cannot damage your fur. It will not shrink, discolor or change the shape of your fur. When a fur is conditioned, it will be softer and shinier. This process also preserves the vital oil of the skin. The conditioning process will not remove difficult stains from the lining.

Leather Conditioning

To protect your quality leather or leather/fur combination, have them conditioned annually to insure softness and suppleness. Do not attempt to hand wash or machine wash your leather garment.

Cleaning Your Suede and Leather

Because Suede and Leather are animal skins, they are subject to scars, tick bites, and other hide marks. These imperfections can become more obvious after cleaning of your garment.

Dyes can be very unstable. All suedes fade to some extent when cleaned. We try to match and recolor as best as possible. Bleeding of dyes during cleaning can transfer to other panels of the garment. This is a manufacturing problem and is not correctable on multicolored garments.

Easy Care Tips to Help Protect Your Fur and Leather Garments

  • Always store your fur during the warm season
  • Always hang your fur garment on a broad sturdy hanger. Give the garment enough room in the closet so the fur isn't crushed
  • Never store a fur in a plastic bag
  • Never leave fur near heat
  • If a fur gets wet, shake it out and hang it in a place where air circulates. Do not place near heat
  • Never comb or brush wet fur
  • Never moth proof a fur with chemical sprays
  • Have your fur and leather garments conditioned once a year.
  • Do Not Dry Clean Your Fur!
  • Have any small rips or tears repaired immediately
  • Avoid leaving a fur hanging in a bright place. The light can cause the fur to oxidize or change color
  • Never put perfume, cologne or hair spray directly on fur
