Q: I have a tear or rip in my fur, can that be fixed?

A. Yes, it can be fixed. Take your fur coat to your nearest Henig Furs or send it to our corporate office in Montgomery, AL for repair. You can even purchase our Ship & Store option, and include a note regarding the repairs you need, and we'll reach out to you with a quote before beginning any work on your furs. 

Q. I spilled wine (coffee, milk, spaghetti sauce) on my fur coat, how do I get it cleaned?

A. If spill is not dried yet, sprinkle some Baby Powder as soon as possible on the spill, let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour and then brush lightly. Bring your fur to your nearest store, or purchase our Ship & Store option online as soon as possible to have your fur cleaned & conditioned.

Q. Can I wash my fur coat in washing machine?

A. No, fur coats are not machine washable. Bring your fur to your nearest store, or try our convenient Ship & Store option online to have your fur professionally cleaned & conditioned. 

Q. Will light rain or snow hurt my fur coat?

A. After wearing your fur coat thru some light rain or snow, shake it, hang it up and let it dry naturally. Never use a dryer on your fur coat. Beware that heavy rain or water can ruin your fur. Bring your fur to your nearest store, or purchase our Ship & Store option online to have your fur serviced. 

Q. I need my coat altered to a different size, can this be done?

Q. How can I remove permanent marker or ink from my fur coat or leather?

A. Permanent marker or ink can be removed from your fur or leather coat if caught early with minimum notice. Q. Can I store my fur coat in my closet? I have air conditioning in my house.

A. It is not recommended to store fur coat at home as it is subject to moths and humidity. Never store your fur coat in plastic while at home. Q. How do I care for my fur coat?

Q. I don’t like my inherited fur coat, can it be restyled?

Q. Do you buy used fur coats?

A. No, we do not buy used furs, but you can trade-in your old fur for a new fur. You can also restyle it into something new. We also offer appraisals, bring your fur to your nearest store for more information. If you're looking to sell your fur online, search "vintage furs", and you'll find many sites dedicated to selling used furs. 

Q. What can I do if my fur coat has smoke damage (or was in a house fire)?

A. Your fur needs to be inspected, and it needs to cleaned as soon as possible, likely several times to remove smoke damage. The longer the smoke stays in the fur, the harder it will be to eliminate. If the fur has burn damage, normally there is nothing you can do, however, for cigarette burns or small burns, the fur may be repaired or replaced. Q. My leather jacket has lost its luster and shine; can I do something about this?

A. If you know how to sew, the reattaching of the lining should be fairly simple.
